Guardians of the Mall 'acrostic poem' (my name)
My Poor old coffee Group again!
Guardians of The Mall (An Acrostic Poem) (My Name)
They gather every weekday morn for friendship and a chat,
Each person has their views to air in verbal type combat.
Rare repartee is freely used for humour flourished there,
Replies are swift for any slight, though very few would dare.
Each mind is like a rapier, honed sharp and blessed with wit,
Newcomers who just happen by are quite surprised by it.
Confused to find these ancient folk who daily gather there,
Enjoy still catching up each time with friends that they all share.
Each day you’ll hear opinions - offered freely as you do,
(Religion Politics and such as usual thought taboo.)
Into this little coffee group though gentle hearts still beat,
Concern is felt for all who gather on that wooden seat.
Perhaps this friendliness now resonates throughout the mall,
In reaching out to all who pass, with smiles for one and all.
Good friendships seem to blossom there with greetings by the score,
Glad tidings passed there back and forth, no one will they ignore.
Of course, throughout the many years, some shadows have been cast,
The loss of friends has saddened them, though memories will last.
They gather strength from friendships reaching back into the past.

Love this one Terry, and maybe that’s because, being of similar vintage, I can relate to every line.
And your last couple of lines in rounding off the poem says it all, well done.
Hope you are still mending well mate,
Cheers
Ron.

Oh yes, love where this one took you, Terry. A lovely poem - the friendship and ease of conversation between friends is so clearly shown, and like Ron, I too love those last couple of lines.

Thanks Catherine & Ron
It's interesting to observe people just being normal,
The warmth existing within a group a case in point.
Getting there Ron, and much improved mate.

Oh nicely done Terry - nothing like a good Coffee and Chat either - a great way to get people together and to forge strong friendships.

Thanks Maureen
I'm really more of an observer than a fully-fledged member of the group.
They have been meeting for coffee and a chat for many years.
