Re: My Mag!!
I did have a little sleep in (it is Sunday afterall) but then I've been out interviewing people for our book on the 7th Feb 2009 bushfires. We (my co-author is Catherine) interviewed three people today - a couple that fought and saved their home and a lady who fought and initially saved her house but then an ember got in the roof and she lost it and the only thing she took from the house were two saddles that were sitting by the door. Wednesday we are interviewing a wildlife carer. Last week we interviewed a couple of fire fighters that got caught and had to cut through burning trees to get out. Fantastic stuff. We are really excited about the material we are collecting. Saw some excellent footage and photos today too which we will get copies of. So if I'm not writing much poetry at the moment this is why. I hope the book will be therapy for some people and will aid in their recovery. There is still so much pain and nearly everyone we interview is brought to tears; it is still just under the surface.
Thanks for asking Robert!

Re: My Mag!!
Heather,
It is a pity you can't get hold of MadMick. A member who lived through the bush fires. He and his family were/are safe but lost everything but their truck. He is a truckie by trade. They lost house, vehicles, a 'triple garage' sized shed full of spares for the truck, gardens, etc. etc. But more than that they lost their 'place' in the world. Last I heard they are touring in a caravan. They haven't the 'heart' to go back and start again in the ashes.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mick and his family (truly delightful chidren) when they were guests of Rotery for a short holiday here in Wollongong. Mick writes beautiful poetry. I'm not sure just where they are at the moment. Last I heard they were in the far west. Someone else might know. (???)

Zondrae I have Mick's story. It is as beautifully written as his poetry. His was one of the first that we received.

Re: My Mag!!
Thanks for that Zondrae! We can't tell enough people about our association.
As editor I do my best to remind members that their subs are due at the end of the year.
In the December issue of the magazine I placed an A4 size reminder/renewal form which could hardly be missed.

Goodonya Frank (Joe),
I heard you are not coming to the National FF this year. Is this correct? I'll miss catchin up with you if you don't turn up. Oh well young John Peel and I will do our best to promote 'the cause'.
There are certainly some names on the programme.
