Dunno Bob, beats me

Haemorrhoids was given to me by one of my treacherous underlings when I was his supervisor. When I was the supervisor at another station , one of the police " ladies " used to call me Sergeant PMT. Wonder what she meant.

Actually to live up to my name Bob, these names you mention are not strictly nicknames but noms de plume; pen names.

In his poem The Old Bush School , Patrick Hartigan says about some of his fellow pupils " And a nickname fitting better than the name their mothers gave "

The aborigines out west loved to give nicknames. One of the police officers was a big tall bloke with a big nose, the aborigines called him " big bird " and another officer was short, of slight build and boyish looks and they called him " the milky bar kid ''
Dunno what they called me. best I don't know.

You are right Nev seen some shockers over the years and some guys actually prefer the nickname to their real one.

Eg Biler the tiler ( cause he would lay anything )

and of course Stevo the Devo.

Had one guy who was about five foot tall and built like a brick S--t House. Loved a beer so we all called him " Keg "

And " Darryl Von Smacken Smelly De Turd " Never used deodorant !!!!!

OK Bob!
I agree with using our correct names as much as you do.
From now on I'll try to be frank and call myself Frank all the time, though I much prefer Joe. But that's another story!
It won't take long to get those using nom-de-wotsits to get the message if we continue to ask them to use their full names when we reply to their posts.
So come on Mummsie, Bandit, warooa, swaggie Joe, Grug06, Keats, Trace, bellobazza and others, please update your profiles.

OK now some people think I call myself Keats after the English poet, so here is the truth. When I first started using computers, I used the handle Keats. And where did it come from? keats at the time was my favorite rock band. They were the musicians who formed the backbone of the Alan Parsons project, a band who redefined Rock MMusic. Alan Parsons himself was the producer of such albums as Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd and the the Beatles' White Album, before he went into recording his own albums. Keats were the backbone of the sound. Never heard of out here, but as a music historian I loved them and was playing one of their albums when I first signed on to the internet, thus I have been using the name as a login ever since and always will. My real name might be Neil McArthur, but keats will always be my login name both for convenience and security.

BUT YOU CAN CALL ME AL....................
