Thank you Manfred for giving us the ability to place our Audio on the forum much appreciated now for the serious business. As you can hear from, mine and Frank and Manfred’s audio we can produce the goods to make a quite expectable CD so please send your Audio to me so I can with the help of several others produce a CD of our own ABPA members Works so when you send it over the Email airways make sure it is WMA file or MP3 file that way most times it will be within the limits for transmission
So there you have it now some of you may recon you are not good enough don’t be stupid send it just the same at the moment we have Glenny Palmer, Frank Daniels,Bill Williams, Maureen Clifford, Dave Smith reciting one of Zondraes pieces, and Bob Pacey. So as you see there are SIX of us so far also what about you Manfred, are you going to send one you know it would be nice if you did. If you need my email address send me a pm with your PH number and I will reply ASAP

Bill, the only problem I can see you having here will be with the quality of the final compilation. Both .mp3 and .wma formats are both low quality and very difficult to work with when it comes to mixing down and trying to achieve an overall balance in volume and tone, which is vital in producing something pleasant to the ear. It really would be better if contributors supplied you with their poem on CD through the mail in either .aiff AAC or .flac and then you will have so much more control over compiling the recordings. I am sure if people were prepared to sit down and record their poem (and any good recording program will give you the option to save the file as mentioned) then I am sure they will also take the time to wander down to the post office as well. Just my thoughts.

Cheers

Neil

Yeah, sounds impressively technical Marty, lol, (Neil polishes his chest) but pretty standard really. It is just a matter of having a larger and higher quality recording to work with. It is like sending a photo in jpeg format to a graphic artist. He would have a fit. He wants a .tiff or .pdf Illustrator file, or similar which can be up to 50 or more times larger but gives him so much more scope to work with and actually saves time and hassles. And it all starts with how we choose to save our file format and a few seconds though in choosing can make a hugh difference down the track. I can just see Bill walking into a minefield with all the files he receives and by the time he puts them together, he could have saved weeks or more by receiving them in a proper and workable format in the first place.

Bill, I think people will either want to participate or not want to participate. Either decision would be a valid one for the individuals concerned. I applaud your drive and enthusiasm. You've put the offer out there and those who want to come on board will. Each participant will have their questions about the selection, format, quality, production and distribution of the final product that will need to be worked out.

Over-enthusiasm can also turn people off. You have a wonderful drive and already a number of individuals have come on board. So my suggestion would be to get together somehow with the people you have and work through the above sections of the project (selection, format, quality, production and distribution).

Some people are enthusiastic starters, others may be a bit slower and still others may not want to participate at all no matter how noble the cause. Some others still may even be holding back to see how successfull the first one is before joining up for the second.

Don't be too harsh on those who don't appear to "rally 'round the drum".
Everyone is different and we ALL support Bush Poetry in our own little way.

Bill, Thank You for presenting another option for showcasing people's works, just be aware that the above caveats may apply ... :)

I too applaud your enthusiasm and please don't take my comments as criticism for they are meant to be advice. Over my years in music and poetry I have been involved in many recording projects and am currently recording my forth CD of poetry in the studio. I'm just trying to save you from complications I have seen many times. Besides that, I am only too happy to contribute a track. So good on ya mate, but I put my hat out if you need any advice.
