All children at sometime in their life have a favorite toy.My 16 yearold granddaughter has a rather bedraggled teddy. So this poem is for her.

Yellow Ted
Take some balls of yellow wool, some needles and some thread,
some stitches here, some stuffing there,"hey presto" Yellow Ted.
Now Yellow Ted is special, not your average teddy bear,
for he belongs to Sarah Grace, who takes him everywhere.

He was a gift from Sarah"s Dad, when she was very small,
he's always been there by her side, through every bump and fall.
When Sarah started walking, took one step, three...then four,
Ted cheered and started clapping, encouragement for more.

He's attended every tea party, with all the other toys,
he's been her partner on the swing, they've shared so many joys.
He's picked her up when she was down, just like all good Ted's do,
When bedtime came he'd snuggle close, cause Ted's have bad dreams too.

He knows all of her secrets, he knows her very well,
their talks are confidential, and Ted would never tell.
He's been there through her illnesses, in hospital he's stayed,
he's hardly ever left her side, their friendships never frayed.

He loves to hear her music, she can play most anything,
and when she's on piano, Oh, the pleasure it does bring.
Now Sarah's getting older, and he's noticed that of late,
she's spending time without him, on her bed he's left to wait.

But Ted is understanding, he knows she's grown up now,
For she's become a woman, she's beautiful, and 'how'.
So he'll wait here on her bookshelf, until the day she weds,
when she'll have children of her own, who'll need a Yellow Ted.

Oh yes i can relate to this one Sue. My grandson has an old fluffy dog that goes to bed with him every night even though he is a big tough footy player now

Just on the poem the first line on the last verse just seems to hesitate ? maybe putting up in there might help.

as he knows she's grown up now.

Still it flows well and most enjoyable

Cheers Bob

The urge to write can come at any time of day Bob, sometimes in the early hours of the morning, and I think thats when the inspiration is at it's best.

I've still got my old yellow Ted. I think his name was Ted too. Given me the guilts too Sue, I'll have to find him and put him on my bed. He's got the stuffing knocked out of him though. Poor Ted.

Heather :D
