TAKE ME BACK

Post by hicountryrider » Mon Feb 02, 2015 5:13 pm

Take me back to the drovin' days
a great way of life in so many ways
Long days in the saddle, blistering heat
but still a life that's hard to beat

Take me back to the muster on Junior my mate
he could go all day and not lose his gate
Oh and take me back to a stockwhip crack
a valuable tool from a horses back

Take me back to the campfire, quart pot tea
add a corn beef sanga, twas enough for me
While the lowing cattle sang a sweet song
yeah this life you chose is where you belong

Take me back to runnin' the horses in
and wondering who would be in your string
Would it be hobbs who liked to buck
fingers crossed when he went, ya stuck

Take me back to the Isa rodeo
along with Katherine was a great show
Ya mind in the middle, a leg each side
nod ya head and hope for an 8 second ride

Take me back to night's at the Top Springs pub
a welcomed break from weeks in the scrub
Or yarning at night 'round a flickering fire
yeah times like that I'll never tire

So yeah take me back to days of my youth
when I could use the pliers for a painful tooth
But I can still hold my own, work hard all day
although are proud of my youth in every way

Going back is a thought we all have now and again Billy, but pulling out teeth with pliers is something I don't recall, thank the Lord. Enjoyed your poem.

Thes might help you Billy

Presuming Junior is the name of your horse and Isa the name of the town - they need capital letters
