Thanks Robyn
Yes Heather, haven't heard the term "Blanky" for a while - I think I recall it from reading old comic strips of Eric Jolliffe and Bluey and Curley given to me by my Pa as a kid.

I think there's a few bob. I saw it yesterday when looking for that bastard from the bush poem but I can't remember which one. I'm pretty sure I've seen it in a few of his poems - course it would only work with a two syllable word.

Heather
I know that Sweeney uses the word, 'blanky':
"Only for the blanky horses walking over him all night."
I performed it this morning, so it is nice and fresh in my mind.
I love the way he indicates the use of bad language in "The Captain of the Push", the following lines especially:
"And the language that he muttered I should scarcely like to tell.
(Stars! and notes of exclamation!! blank and dash will do as well)."

Re: The Bustard from the Bush
We finished the first blanky course, and, while she was gettin’ our puddin’ from the side-table, Dave says to me in a loud whisper, so’s she could hear: “Ain’t she a stunner, Joe! I never thought there was sich fine girls on the Darlin’!”
But no; she wouldn’t speak.
Then Dave says: “They pitch a blanky lot about them New Englan’ gals; but I’ll back the Darlin’ girls to lick ’em holler as far’s looks is concerned,” says Dave.
mmmmmmm
