Tall Tales !!

Post by Rimeriter » Fri Nov 25, 2011 3:54 pm

Wirenettin’ N’ Wisecrackin’.

I didn’t visit Booligal while driving them Hay Plains
but my visit to the ShearOutback eased a poor ol’ driver’s pains.
My next stop was Goolgowi
where I met a bloke named Jack,
he told me tales, sure many a one, about that endless track.

He looked at my rig for travellin’ round, now ‘e surely wasn’t frettin’.
But what ‘e said was good advice about a waterbag made from nettin’.

Now, I know it’s said and who am I, but just a city slicker
to question an ol’ bushy, not even make snicker,
‘cause when it’s said these plains are flat,
there isn’t any flatter
I nods me ‘ead and winks me eye
‘cause it really doesn’t matter.

Because I know, that up around the town called Innamincka
where sand dunes roam around about and heat can be a stinka
that if ya stand so very still, with feet squirmed in the sand,
then fix your eyes by lockin’ them against the light that’s really red,
pretty soon all you will see is
the hairy back of ya head.

Now if that’s not flat, well I asks ya mate
come up with somethin’ better
and I’ll send it quick, tucked right inside
with my very next personal letter, to
Outback Jack
that very well known – bloody bushie fella
who has made ‘is name and gained ‘is fame,
as a fair dinkum
Tall Tale Teller.

Big country too Jim - you might need to reduce the size of your piccies - I reckon I only got to see half of it

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.

Well, Jack was prone to tell - BIG Tall Tales.

Decided to get rid of it completely.
One day i might learn the 'how to' of image sizing.
But Jack always told the tale as he thought best.
I've recently seen an image of the Hay plains which would be equally effective.
As many will know, plenty of flat country 'out there'.

Now, that wirenettin' waterbag he advised me to get, never happened.
I must admit that a few years on after our first meeting he asked me if I had one.
As luck would have it, I had been in town a bit previous, called in to RMs in George Street to buy one.
Outta stock they said, sold the last one yesterday.
However, on back order was a new batch of barbed wire ones.

Well I asks ya !!!!!
