AND I LOVED HER
Months of cleaning,
preparing,
primping,
preening,
and suddenly she was there.
And I loved her.
Months of waiting,
hoping,
praying,
anticipating,
and suddenly she was there.
And I adored her.
Months of guessing,
princess?
daughter?
blessing?
and suddenly she was there.
And I knew her.
I knew her eyes.
I knew her smile.
I had known her
all the while.
She was her mother newly born.
And I loved her.
