THE COCKIES GATE
© Ross Magnay 25/10/09
When cockies build a bloody gate,
they never stop to contemplate,
the trouble it may well create,
when unskilled folk approach.
The city people stop and stare,
for they are just not so aware,
that wire and droppers hanging there,
need skill to operate.
Some people with a high degree,
much smarter blokes than you or me,
just stand and look if they can see,
the trick behind this thing.
Gingerly they slip the latch,
barbs and droppers soon dispatch,
and if it’s just a little scratch,
I’d say they got off light!
Tangled now and laying slack,
we move on forward down the track,
but they will have to put it back,
the fun will now begin!
They stand and scratch their clever head,
they never heard a word we said,
their hands are showing signs of red,
as we sit back and smile.
They pick it up to sort it out,
they twist and turn it round about,
but they just cannot work it out,
…….so we shut the thing ourselves.

Nah, it's easy-peasy lemon squeezy.

Yeah I know...but I have seen some people get into so much strife with a cockies gate, you wouldn't believe!
Besides Neville, you haven't always been a city bloke hey.

Another enjoyable poem Ross - painted the picture well and brought me a smile.
