Last year was the first time i did not go to the Rocky show but did make the effort and went to the local at Yeppoon.
Still all show bags and junk food now.

Afternoon all, this is my third try to comment on the show.
Every time I go to post it vanishes. OK My Aunty lived on Cleveland Street 3 doors from the 'Bat and Ball' Hotel.
Every Easter we would go by steam train to Sydney and walk across Moore Park diagonally, and go to the show. I refuse to go to that new place.
Now to try to post.. if it goes again I'll throw this confounded mouse in the bin!
The significance of the title 'Bat and Ball' has just hit me. Gee I'm slow sometimes.

G'day. Neville.
A good run down of kid's eyeview of the SRES.
With all young children it is interesting what sticks in the mind.
My parents took me the SRES quite a few times. For me, like you, I would wander over to the AG pumps spurting water and check out the farm tractors.
Later on when I started earning a quid I worked DMT 99 Phillip Street and later at Rosebery. I always took time off to visit the SRES.
Regards,
John

Thanks Heather, for replying.
Ross, we got excited because it was a place of imagination. For city kids we imagined we were in the country for a while.
G'day Zondrae, that's very interesting. I know that end of Cleveland Street well. Near the old Police Training Centre in Bourke Street. Marvellous old terrace houses, I could have bought one years ago but I thought they were just part of the disappearing past. Would have been worth a fortune now.
Thanks John. And some of the pumps had coloured water. Wonderful, I thought back then.

Don't think I would enjoy something as big as the Sydney Show or The Ecka for that matter . Would spend most of the time standing in line by the looks of it.
God help us if we ever loose the small country shows as they are a unique part of our culture.
I make every effort to go to those in the surrounding area just to support them.
Cheers Bob
