Re: JACK AND MYRPHY

Post by Maureen K Clifford » Mon May 30, 2011 1:10 pm

They are the clowns of the dog world - I had two. Blossom was my first one bought when David was just a baby - his real sister..they grew up together...when my then Husband and I separated in February she died of a broken heart in May on Mothers Day. She loved her Dad - but it was a bit one sided as well.

Wrote this for her and for me back when it happened over 30 years ago now.

FOR BLOSSOM

Today my darling daughter died.
She was my love, my joy, my pride;
and I still grieve and I have cried
for part of my heart too has died
with her.

My memories of her are still
so vibrant, loving and I will
remember all the fun we had
the joy she gave, but now I'm sad.
She's gone and I am left alone.
No wagging tail when I come home.
No wet nose pushing in my hand.
No brown eyes waiting my command.

She's gone, she lives no more here now
but in my heart her love I know.
I hope that there's a place above
for animals so dearly loved.
For she deserves to play all day
and chase big rabbits far away.

For here on earth her love was true.
She asked for nothing but she knew
my love for her was always there.
She sits no more beside my chair.
She comes no more, can't hear my call
my little flower, my love, my all .....
My Blossom.

My second one was Pebbles - a dog I got by default, when her owner got transferred to Townsville and was living in barracks and couldn't take her....she was never my dog though I had her for 4 years before she died . She tolerated me that is all I could say about her - but she got 4 extra years of life she wouldn't have had if I hadn't taken her. It was a funny relationship that one - we never really bonded - too much hurt in both of us I think at the time. :(

Dave you did not know Maureen liked dogs ? Where have you been. Mate she lives for them. In fact if I was a reincarnated as a dog I would ask to be sent to Maureens place. Living in the lap of luxury till I died again of old age what a life.

Would you like that sent as a PM Bob - wouldn't want to waste pages of forum space here with lists of names but didn't actually name all of our sheep only about 50 but recognized most of them - no not by their faces by their rear ends - my exs crutching was distinctive

Mind you Boadicea was a standout ewe, tall and rangy and earless - both ears ringed because of cancer - she was our biggest ewe and an excellent Mother, then there was Harley - originally called Fat Boy but I didn't want to harm him emotionally by calling him hurtful names so I changed it to Harley. Old Bones - not enough meat for soup but eventually made it to Stew category - he was a Prickly Pear eater - once we got him weaned off of that he started to put on a bit weight but it took a long time, Horn-less because he had only one, Hitler - he goose stepped everywhere, Sampson, because once he was shorn he became very weak - he actually died despite my best efforts, Rambo our tiniest Ram, John named after our Mate because he looked like him, Curly one of our big Poll Dorsets with curly horns, Arnie and Shwartz two big butch rams, Creeping Jesus (pronounced Haysoos) because whenever he was in the race for drenching he would get down on his knees and crawl???? I don't know why. Girlie who was Midnights Mum and my best ewe - she followed me everywhere like a dog and if I wanted to muster a paddock if I called in Girlie and Hitler the biggest majority would follow them - that was how I got them out on the road every second day for feeding with no difficulty.

Lambs that I reared were Bob - because fox/pig? tried to kill him and he escaped with only half a tail - Emma Louise and Oliver James were my special babies along with Midnight, Wiggles named because she was forever wiggling under fences and escaping. Hoppit another fox/pig casualty with a broken leg which we splinted in PVC pipe wrapped in Blue grippy type horse bandages until it mended, he was a boy

Give in Bob?????
