Pictures tell a thousand words...

Post by Trace » Sun Jun 05, 2011 9:01 pm

I have some favourite photographs that hold special memories, and have often thought there might be a poem in them. Here is my first attempt. Maybe others would like to share?

Childhood Wisdom
Have you ever sat and listened to the wisdom of a child?
Their eyes see with such clarity; their thoughts are free and wild
And while you seek to guide them on future things to be
Their minds are filled with dreams of days to come that they will see

You know that they will make mistakes, as you did in your day
You also know you’ll set them free and send them on their way
And so you sit and listen; add wise counsel when its due
And pray they’ll always feel that they can come and talk to you.

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.

Grandparents play a much bigger part in childrens lives then a lot of people realise.

Well said Trace.

I was much closer to my grandmother than I am to my mother. It was a very special relationship and one I miss.

Good idea Trace. I think relating a poem to a photo or picture is an excellent project.

This is just a suggestion. How about some time, just a bit different from fairly general statements about relationships, why don't you try and do a poem that mentions the people in the photo by name ( I see the names are underneath the photo ) and something very detailed and exact about their interaction at the time of the photo. If you know what I mean ?

You said this was your first attempt. Very good result.
