Healing Hands

Post by Trace » Fri Jun 24, 2011 11:37 am

For all the many fine Australians who help us maintain our health!

Healing Hands
I visit when my body’s feeling weary
She treats my every muscle ache and strain
In her I place my faith that she can help me
With healing hands she takes away the pain

At times my pain extends beyond my body
I fear for future ills of every kind
She takes the time to calm and re-assure me
With healing hands she helps to soothe my mind

We talk of places been and worlds discovered
Of future plans and travels yet to be
We talk of all the goodness that surrounds us
With healing hands my soul she helps me see

I leave her office feeling light and breezy,
Bereft of any fear or doubt or care.
There's only one cloud on the bright horizon.
I cannot claim it back on Medicare!

I reckon this Maureen just slips these in now and then Marty so she can see if our minds are still active. Fancy making a comment like that and then just leave it hanging out there to see who will bite.

Lucky I was at work and up to my armpits in it again. Signs are now up Baby bum wipes are not compatable with a septic system. They do not break down and will only clog up the intake vents which by the way are at the bottom of a 20 foot pit filled with ------------mmmmmm what rhymes with pit ?????

Reminds me of that add Helping a mate out at work Fifty Cartons.

I think that is well done Trace, you've got the idea of the metre and no spelling mistakes ;)

I think it is a very good approach to relate a small segment of life in verse ( your physio ) and make it stand for a broader concept ( all helping people ). I think the ability to make a small poem say a lot is one of the major accomplishments of any poet, good on you.

Marty just checking to see if all your senses are working and obviously they are, sorry to hear about your fingers though - was it a new Italian dish you were trying?

Bob - I don't just throw things in Mate :o - I place them carefully to get the maximum input

G'day Trace,

You have expressed your appreciation of the healers hands in a very skillful and tender way. I hope you have given her a copy of the poem. I understand exactly what you mean about re-vitalising the soul. There is nothing like 'hands on' to sooth and heal. The 'laying on of hands' has been a method of both symbolic and actual healing throughout history. They have proven that premature babies who have 'skin nurturing' grow and thrive far better than those will little skin contact. You have successfully captured the receivers view. Thanks for sharing your poem.
