Truer words were never spoken. Very Good Heather Jean.
Enjoyed the beat and rhyme.

And here was I, embarrassed and about to delete it! Thanks Bob. I'd just returned from overseas and had missed all the back stabbing that went on prior to the assassination.
Oh, and congratulations Bob. Yes, my middle name is Jean, after my dear departed grandmother. But you don't get any prizes because Maureen dropped some rather obvious hints.
Maureen you are in trouble!

Re: Kev's Demise
You should write more of this type of humorous poem.
To the point and comical.
Cheers Bob

Re: Kev's Demise
I do occasionally write them Bob but the mood has to strike. I don't keep up with politics so probably can't do a sequel - until the next knifing perhaps. I don't even watch the news most nights now unless I'm in the wrong room at the wrong time!
Thanks Vic. Not my kind of game I'm afraid. My mother worked for a couple of politicians at various times and I think in the beginning they were all bright eyed and bushy tailed and full of grand ideas. She became disillusioned with all but one in the end - back stabbing and looking out for themselves was the game.

Re: Kev's Demise
G/day Heather,
Excellent I really enjoyed that, and it's very well written as well.
But it seems to have ended up (as far as Labor is concerned), a case of out of the frying pan into the fire.

Re: Kev's Demise
great poem Heather. This I wrote the next day after the event. The bit in bold you have to sing.
Coincidental.
Have you ever sat and thought of where
you were on one particular day.
A day that may have changed
the course of history by the way.
Where were you when Nine Eleven struck
or when the Tsunami hit the coast
Some major events that happened,
one thats sticks in your mind the most.
Well I know where I was the day
when Julia sunk the knife
Right into poor old Kevin's back
that took away his way of life
Kev, I'm your bestess mate you know,
Followed you through thick an thin
But you have to understand the situation
that our party has too win.
It might just be coincidental
at the fish markets on that day
The favourite fish, Red Herring
was selling by the tray.
It might just be coincidental
that on the front page of the tele.
A picture of this fiery redhead
the matriarch of underbelly.
It might just be coincidental
that the lone drover on the job
With Guitar in hand was crooning
to calm his traveling mob
It might just be coincidental
that the words were laced with truth
If he had have known the circumstances
He would have uttered “Strewth”.
“
There's Blood on the saddle
There's blood on the ground
There's great big pools of Kevin's blood
Lying all around
The damsel stood upon him
a dagger in her hand
Old Kev's now on the back bench
counting grains of sand.
It might just be coincidental
That the mining magnate said
Our ore's the colour of this land
but her hair is fiery red.
We'll have to quench the fire my lads
to hold this Welshy wench at bay
Otherwise we might as well just leave
it in the ground too mine another day.
Yes I know where I was that day
when Julia done her ghastly chore
Took the keys of our leader Kevin
and just kicked him out the door.
It might just be coincidental
that I wished that I was dead
When the coppers pulled me over
for disobeying red.
