"G'day" and thanks Maureen.
As I mentioned in another ABPA place, I had copied your revisions for later comparison against my original.
Since having had time to read, mark, learn and inwardly digest, I do agree it is not one of my best pieces.
However, as it is one of my fairly early writings : a bit like a newborn - I have decided not to apply surgery at this late stage.
"Thanks" again.
ooroo.
Jim.

Hey Jim - it may not be your best piece but it is yours and that is all that matters. I am very precious about the first one I put on site.
Your best piece might be round the corner or years down the track..the amazing thing here is that something you might think is a bit ho hum others on the site see immediate potential for. We are all learning as we go....look back on your work in 6 months time and see the improvements that 6 months will have made. Go back in two years time and you will be wondering why you even posted some of your earlier stuff but it is all part of the learning curve and we are all here to try and help one another and any comments or suggestions are just that - yours to use or lose as you choose. And always offered in the spirit of friendship
Keep em coming Mate
Cheers

Find a picture of you in your files and resize it to the specs. I think it is about 100 x 100..
Go into user control panel then into profile and then avatar and then brouse to find the picture and add it. The system will tell you if it is too big.
Think that is all . let us know how you go.

Re: Jim's Jottings by Rimeriter.
G'day Bob,
I was about to say that the last person who used a nick name for me was my dear departed father. He called me 'Bub'. Come to think of it, I can't ever recall him using my name but my husband calls me 'Sandra' around the house (just to annoy me). I don't like nick names at all. Now I should clarify that... For myself, I don't have one and will not answer to one. I always give my hubbie a black sideways look when he dares. I guess that is the whole point... we both get a smile out of it.
Other than that I am Zondrae. An almost unique name (Not quite, because we called our first born Zondrae) and if you google it you find a young man, somewhere over the water with the same spelling. I any case there aren't too many of us. Why mess with it?

We first met in Goolgowi.
The image is in Bourke, much later.
Not long before 'e fell off 'is perch.
So this is the original. Once when we were chew'n the fat Jack told me e'd like the title changed. So we yarned about it and eventually settled on - Outback Jack.
All those in the series since use that title.
Eventually I extended it to - Outback Jack the Tall Tale Teller.
Probably the last few lines will give you a clue !
Bindii Jack.
Bindii Jack from way in the Outback along the Kidman Way,
he’s been about in the bush with a road makin’ push
and lives in Goolgowi today.
His name is Jack Bourke and he never did shirk
hard yakka when makin’ new roads.
With ‘is loader and roller and weight on ‘is shoulder
‘e still travels those roads ‘til this day,
from Griffith to Bourke he still does not shirk,
but tells tall tales - as ‘e goes on ‘is way.
Tall Tale Teller.
Jack Bourke ‘e said ‘is name is, as we stood beside a tree.
We both shook ‘ands and said “G’day”,that fella Jack Bourke, and me.
Later on we got to yarnin’ about ol’ times in the bush
and the days ‘e spent breakn’ new ground, with a Shire road makin’ push.
He told me of Wanaaring on the banks of the big Paroo,
he spoke about this fragile land and what we all should do.
He’d built the roads from here to Bourke, from Griffith to Fords Bridge
but many the tales he told me were, far from ridgy didge.
He says, those red soil plains are good for growing things,
from the likes of golden crowbars, to ladies finger rings.
Crowbars grow just overnight using morning dew, outback,
from planting in the rich red soil a flat and silver thumb tack.
Ladies rings are easy, usin’ star washers and some springs
with a touch of moonlight magic, Presto! a tray of diamond rings
Then the wire netting water bag got mentioned by and by.
A sly old grin creased his face. He had a twinkle in his eye ?

Well, as I mentioned - Outback Jack the Tall Tale Teller, eventually got a mention.
It is posted on the Poetry Verandah notice board.
Dear ol' Jack makes his appearance in retrospect. More of his 'adventures' will follow as time permits.
I think today I was able to submit me bits 'n pieces in a suitable format for inclusion with others who have listed their wares on the contacts list. While I was there I noticed Brian Bell, the Blue Mountains Bard heads the list.
Is it possible to say "G'day" to him via this medium ?
