EXTINCTION
EXTINCTION
And their numbers dwindle year by year.
By hunters killed they disappear.
Leaving no trace that they were here.
Each one is mourned, as from this place
Another species gone - disgrace.
Killed by the apathy of human race.
For eons they lived here and thrived
Until man came – He who despised
The presence on the land of others
Until he'd decimated animal brothers.
Removing them without a trace.
Extinct. Now gone Not in his space.

Yes, why is that Marty I wonder? They always land on their back, legs in the air. And NOTHING eats them. Either they are a tough as leather or taste really nasty.

Re: EXTINCTION
Maureen, Makes you wonder why we are induced to imagine that we have the capacity to
" save the planet ". How are we going to save the planet when we have demonstrated that we can't even manage to conserve the species that live alongside us.

No silly Marty, I mean the crows and foxes etc don't seem to eat them. They just lie there forever until they fade away.....
We get mangey ones here - not a pretty sight or smell....poor things.

Re: EXTINCTION
Dear Heather I believe it is called scroptic mange that your wombats have and was bought over by the poms when the bought the common fox over here and many animals have contract it .

Re: EXTINCTION
You are right Bill, it is Sarcoptic mange. We had a dog caught it once from a mangey fox that had curled up on our front verandah and died overnight. It's caused by a nasty little mite. It literally rots the skin of the animals and they become putrid. Had a wombat here once that you could smell for ages after it had left. Had to put the poor thing out of its misery.
