Thank you Glenny and others.
I hope the bike is ok.
'I'm the Man' was the first poem I ever recited at Tamworth - it was at the Fireside Festival in June 1993.
Until then the only live poets I had ever heard of were 'Blue the Shearer' and Pam Ayres.
I had seen her in concert in Canberra some years earlier and had heard Blue on the ABC on many a Friday morning.
I met Jim Haynes and Blue in Stuart Town (Ironbark) in April 1993 and they invited me to the Fireside Festival.
Imagine my surprise when I found an extra fourteen real live poets in Tamworth. I was overwhelmed by their presence and abilities.
On that occasion I met the late Charlee Marshall, the late John Philipson, the late Gertrude Skinner, Marion Fitzgerald, Murray Hartin, Marco Gliori, Noel Cutler (the whip cracking poet), Norma Pfitzner, Shannon McDermott and her father Don and Ray Essery (the Mullumbimby Bloke). Along with Jim, Blue and myself and
that great promoter, the late Judith Hosier, it was the best weekend of my life. I didn't want to come home.
Seven months later in January 1994 I returned to the Tamworth Country Music Festival and the Australian Bush Poets Association was formed with twenty two members at its inaugural meeting.

All the more reason why we all need to be ambassadors for this great assocation.

Promote it at every opportunity people and we all reap the benefits.

Cheers Frank

Hey Neville! How do you know how croc is 'decked out'? If you saw a bloke with a 3 day growth, in the same clothes he's been chain sawing in for that time, with his teeth in his pocket.....true!.....& a battered hat with paint & sunglasses on it....well that mighta been him....but how'd ya know? ....& just where exactly....?

No Dave. Check out 'Modems' post where all is revealed. I've made a mess of posting all over the place.

Righteo. This looking far too suspicious to me. croc has a penchant for 'up & orf' to glory knows where....for months at a time...do ya reckon we might be related through non-marriage mate? Does 'your' croc go by any other names? He's not on the missing person's poster is he 'cause by geez there's a bloke on there who looks a lot like 'my' croc who gave WA the slip....in August last year...mmmm. Wonder if there's a bloody wife & kids tucked away somewhere....Well. If there is, he'll WISH he WAS the bloke in that pic......mmmm.

Martyboy....hold onto your hat....croc never stops talking about going to the NT. Oh Fate is flicking fickle fingers formally and free....(that's 'alliteration') BTW....'your' Croc is a big 'C' & 'mine' is a little 'c'....spelling wise that is. He never uses a capital.

OFFICIAL NOTICE FROM MOI: I posted the 'bikergran' & 'after the fight' pics in 'Modems' as well by mistake, & now it's all mucked up.....I'm sorry for any confusion. I was gunna try to delete it from there but replies had come in.......MANNIEEEE!! HELP!! I need a Bex & a good lie down....

There's a pic of a 'healthy' croc on 'Modems' because Zondrae took fright & thought he really was the bloke in the hospital bed. (Bless her)

sorry folks......
