LIE DOWN WITH DOGS

LIE DOWN WITH DOGS

Nothing ventured nothing gained – words her Mother used to say.
She was always quoting proverbs – trotted one out every day.
Words to live by she did call them – some quoted from the good book.
Heaps of bull her daughter thought then, never stopped to take a look
at the meanings hid behind them. Wiser now she finds herself
often quoting quirky sayings – often suffers foot in mouth.
But least said is soonest mended and a watched pot never boils,
at last out of debt and danger after years of work and toil.
New brooms always sweep the cleanest and that’s just because they’re new.
Years long gone are now recalled. So close her final years are too.
Brevity is the soul of wit and less is more or so they say
and when her time comes she’ll leave nature to dispose in nature’s way.
Scatter me into the ocean – Maybe not I cannot swim.
Cast me to the wind that’s blowing – No don’t – flying is not my thing.
Put my ashes ‘neath an Ironbark – let me fertilize the ground.
That’ll do – 'cause when there's trees I know there's always dogs around.

I love coming across little gems of advice!! And it is funny how you remember all the things your parents used to say!!
I put a weekly quote on our board at work (mind you, they don't get changed weekly!! ) and so many people comment on them.
What goes around, comes around.

Actually I like this one as well.
As Irene said all those little gems of sayings, makes you hanker again for a past and perhaps gentler era.

Seen many a dog cock his leg against a tree. Maureen

Does that mean it is a sacred place.

The purpose in life is to have fun.
After you grasp that everything else seems insignificant !!!
