Australians are the master of invention Bob and I bet that float works a treat.

Great poem Terry and all the more so because it is a true story - shame about the beer, but I suppose the Poms have been drinking warm beer for centuries and they survive

Cheers

Hi and thanks Maureen,
I've just come back from seeing my old mate, he's doing it pretty tough at the moment after several months of chemo and radio therapy.
He's looking forward to the opening of the trout season on Sept 1,

Hi Noel,
Good stuff on a hot day after tramping around for hours mate.

Regards

Terry

Yeah I agree Terry . . . after a long hot day hard at it anything (nearly anything) cold tastes good . . . . even if it is like 'making love in a canoe' as some other certain low-brow contributor so succinctly put it ;)

Marty (the one with a bit of class)

ps. no wonder the old boy carked it drinkin' luke-warm King Browns

Still remember the first time I went to the pub with my old man learnt a valuable lesson. Don't drink pots when the old buggers are drinking seven ounce beers. Just can not keep up in the shout.

Never been so crook in my life.

G/day Marty (Warooa)

Light ice was an enjoyable beer as long as it was really really cold, but pretty ordinary otherwise, it also had the advantage of not dehydrating you like a full strength beer.
That aside, get back to camp in the late afternoon on a stinking hot day and it tasted like the nectar of the gods, and boy did we look forward to our daily ration. (meagre as it was)

Cheers terry
