Experimenting with Haiku, Tanka and other Japanese type of poetry at the moment just because I can...but because it doesn't rhyme or have rhythm you mob don't want to know about it but for any that might be even a little bit curious you can see them here

Decided I would endeavour to do a renga (not to be confused with a Julia type ranga) that had R and R and was Australian themed. Didn't need to go far for inspiration, just my garden. Everything is looking fresh and gorgeous, my Amaryllis are blooming in beautiful shades of red and cream and orange - colours swirled together in artistic splendour.



RENEWAL – (A Renga)

fresh new shoots emerge
their leaves joyously unfurl -
green unfettered surge

tight tree fern fronds uncurling
tall amaryllis swirling

wind through willows soughs
long green tresses dance and wave -
wheat stalk chorus bows

saved by warmth of sun and water
golden grain good exporter

birds above carouse
warbling their morning song -
music they espouse

welcome sunlight and days long
glad to see cold winter gone

It is, you are perfectly correct. Marty the longest one being recorded at 1000 verses I believe which used up 40 sheets of paper and both sides of the paper used - but they can also be written a a solo piece which this was - ' cause I didn't think anybody there would play

Traditionally the honour of writing the first 3 line Haiku goes to the honoured guest or the person within the group with the highest standing. So since in this instance I had a choice between MME I won M and E don't have very good writing skills as yet.

In an endeavour to get something going - Because I am bored and it rhymes, and I could so I did

Thinking outside the square - not hidebound by convention - game to try new things save incest and folkdancing

I think you need to get out there and start taking your poetry to some real ( Not Cyber ) people Maureen.


Should not take you long to make some contacts and get performing, Go on have a go you will be amazed at the buzz.

So you'd come pole dancing with me then Maureen?

I’ve taken up pole dancing for my health, it’s really good,
although sometimes my body will not bend the way it should.
But the feeling of euphoria is really quite sublime
as around the shiny silver pole my body twists and twines.

I suspect when I stretch out my leg the flabby bits all show
and the g string doesn’t cover all the cellulite you know,
but I wait in anticipation for the accolades to come
when all my girlfriends notice, my disappearing bum.

The other girls are younger, but I am not dismayed
because I have life experience for which they cannot pay.
And whilst they may earn more money in their high powered city jobs
I have taken up pole dancing so I don’t become a slob.

I fancy toning up a bit; I want to stop the jiggle,
I’d like to look more perky, and I’d like my hips to wiggle.
But if a pictures worth a thousand words, I’ve had an awful fright,
saw some old bird in the mirror and she really looked a sight.

I had to take a long hard look – she looked a bit like me
but was I wearing tassels and a rhinestone spotted g?
I oft’ remember Mother saying mutton done as lamb
so I’ve decided to give the pole away and stay just as I am.

Although belly dancing might be good
