Just Not Christmas

I really enjoy Christmas
It's a real fantastic day.
Despite all the doom and hardship
That those dammed old scrooges say.

But things are getting out of hand
With controls and rules and such,
And this political correctness
Well it's just getting way too much.

Santa was so round and chubby
His belly jiggled with such cheer.
Now he's horizontally challenged
As litigation do they fear.

He just can't bring just any present
The shops must be careful what they sell.
For the Governments advised them
That they must be safe as well.

They tell Rudolph's got a contract
12 hour shifts are on the slate.
The reindeer stop for smoko breaks
So everything is running late.

The Elves, well you can't call em that
Or they'll slap you with some writs.
Cause now their vertically deficient
Mate, it fair gives me the shits.

We used to make our own fun
But now all the toys are electronic.
They use so many batteries
That the cost is astronomic.

Kids were happy with a bike
On Christmas day you'd hear them cheer.
But now they sit in their bedroom
With an ipod in their ear.

Oh I know technology is with us
And a little knowledge can not hurt.
But hey! let them just be kids again
And play out in the dirt.

Dvd's and battery cars
Mobile phones that come with SAT.
Mate what's wrong with a bloody kite
Or a cricket ball and bat.

We've forgotten what its all about
Memories that last forever.
The simple things can mean so much
When the gang all gets together

So when your clan is gathered round you
Remember its not the gift at all.
Families make each Christmas special
So share your love with one and all.

G'day Bob,

here here. I agree whole heartedly. I'm glad I had my kids back when there was a choice as to whether you bought toys that needed batteries. I didn't. Even now I try to avoid them. You can buy games and other things that are battery free. It may take a bit of thinking and looking round, but they are there.
