Yes Heather you are spot on.

Never forget why we write, listen to and read poetry. Well for me it is a great enjoyment to just write, Just read and just listen.


Step back from analysing and just enjoy it .

I agree Heather and Bob ..sort of. I think we can get too bogged down analysing structure, especially inconsequential fine distinctions of rhyming and syllable counts. But I think it is still good to think and analyse ( as Heather has done ) about the music and colour of the language in the poem.

Maureen I think you can get away with paddock/mattock etc when they are alternate lines. If they were one after the other you might think "what?"
