Lovely tribute Mannie - we see them through different eyes I think when they are gone.
Cheers

Good on ya Manfred.
I would be interested to see, if you ever decided to do it, either another version of that theme or added stanzas in between those, with concrete examples of what you are referring to.

Thanks Mausie, Nev.
I used the 'helicopter' view on this one for a more universal appeal.
Getting too personal and specific is the 'lawnmower' view, and clumps of smelly churned up grass is not so pretty ...

Helicopters? Lawnmowers? All that noise! All that petrol! Just to write a poem...

Re: Think of Me Gently When I'm Gone
Well, Manny's in his chopper,
And the world is far beneath.
He is working on a poem,
So he's steering with his teeth.
On his knee's a piece of paper.
It is flapping in the breeze.
A pen is in his hand but
He is managing with ease.
A line a litre, that's the rate
Of petrol for his muse.
You couldn't say the thing was cheap.
But what's he got to lose?
Money. Time. Perhaps his life.
His biro and his pad.
The poem that he's wrestling with.
I hope it's just a fad.
I hope that Manny comes to earth,
Gentle-like, and slow,
And comes to see that desk and chair's
The safer way to go...
