Bush Poets and Rap Poets to face-off at the NFF Canberra
Bush Poets and Rap Poets to face-off at the NFF Canberra
Hi Manfred
Has ABPA been informed about the poetry slam at the National Folk Festival this year? It’s an opportunity for the bush poets and the rap poets to face-off and should be a lot of fun.
The Canberra Times is keen to write a promo feature about it and I want to make sure the bush poets are well-represented – are any ABPA people likely to be taking part?
Here’s the NFF background from their website:
BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT!
Spoken word, poetry, rhyming, bush ballads, rants, shopping lists – whatever you’ve got we want it for BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! is a poetry slam that will give ANYONE a microphone, an audience and two minutes to perform — and then be judged by five judges chosen randomly from the audience, as well as by our very own Master of Conflict. Sign-up at 1pm Sunday with The Score Adder for your chance to win a feature spot at the 2012 National Folk Festival. Join your hosts, Jacinta, Andrew Gayland, The Master of Conflict and The Score Adder at BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! and remember, no props, no music, 2 minutes!
Shows
5-9 April, 2012 – TBA
Cheers

G'day all,
Well I'll be at the National but there may be others who would put up a better fight than me. However, I will be a willing stand by if no one else wants to have a go. I know Vic Jefferies will be there. Probably Barry Lake too, both of these gents are top notch performers.

Get into them and slam the slammers.
If they could not use four letter words they would be out of it.

I entered this a couple of years ago and recited a poem for children, 'The Chinstrap Penguin'. One judge awarded me a minus 10! I was quite chuffed. At least I got a reaction!
