Poet Poll

Post by Heather » Wed Mar 07, 2012 1:43 pm

I want to run a little poll here just out of interest -

I know that some people have a preference for either Lawson or Paterson so just want to see who here likes one more than the other (you may like both equally). Put your name below under the poet of your choice.

Lawson
Heather

Paterson

Lawson

Paterson

I have no preference, they are both classic bush poets, just different paradigms ( there's a good word ).

Lawson probably has the slight edge for me - mostly because of his stories - but I love the iconic Paterson stuff.

If it is the bush yearnings or maybe the bush learnings that they both have then I would say they are both in a dead heat though Adam Lindsay Gordon would keep the pair honest in a race.

I think Lawson would pronounce the silent 'g' . . . . whilst Paterson, well - he would just go on and on and on and on about how after he's gone "they'll all automatically spell my name with two bluddy T's!!"

I'm probably in the Lawson camp. When reading for pleasure, I'd pick up a Lawson book first. I like the way Lawson does emotion.
However I recite more Banjo, as he has more of the popular poems that people like to hear (at local events I mean, not competitions).
