"onya" Neville.
As has been said endlessly - we are all entitled to our own views.

I'm happy to settle for that view.
"Cheers" everyone.
Jim.

Well put Nev. Really well thought out.

I remember reading on a UK website that ambitious poets should perhaps engage in the contemporary until they have established themselves and then they can write and perform whatever they want once they"make" it. Blurring the edges sounds like a plan but if we can cross the divide I suspect that would have to be done on an individual basis. Who knows?

Perhaps we should found a new movement........say,..... contemporary neo-post modernist classical traditionalism.......ah, stuff it...lets just write poetry whatever that might be. :)

All the best

I also believe that we should each read (and write) as widely as we are able. In fact there are a couple of other poetic forums that I regularly stalk.

However, good manners dictate observance of protocols. It would be in very bad taste to post a R&M piece in a 'free' verse forum. Unless of course I want a stoush.

This is unashamedly a "Bush Poetry" Forum! Our foundations are Rhyme & Metre!

Occasionally, there are some who believe that we should go 'free' ... and that R&M doesn't really matter.
Well, R&M DOES 'matter'. It's foundational to Bush Poetry. We declare that up front in our 'definition' ... and I'll be happy to "stoush it out" with anyone who believes that we should change our fundamentals.

Never entered my head to try to change any foundations or fundamentals.
