Charlee Marshall Bush Poetry Competition

Post by Brenda Joy » Tue Nov 27, 2012 1:48 pm

G'day all,
Just passing on the following message received today from Carole Lee, Library Manager, Banana Shire, Qld. re the Charlee Marshall Golden Cockatoo and Silver Budgee Awards -

'My apologies Brenda, but the Charlee Marshall Bush Poetry Competition is not going to be called any more. The interest locally just wasn't there. Many thanks for your lovely entries..."

It is such a shame to see a written competition disappear.

In poetry,
Brenda

A great loss in this part of the world,

Perhaps Charlie could be remembered with an award in his honour at the performance competition in Tamworth ?

As far as I recall there was no entry fee for this comp. Perhaps you could suggest implementing this to help fund/keep alive this very worthwhile project? I live in the Banana Shire (where the council wastes enough to fund 50 such comps!) & I am already trying to increase 'local interest' with The Copper Croc Awards & some performances & school workshops etc. Would some wailing from those that are 'interested' aid the cause? I'm happy to moan at them & could probably get a few more to do so?

Ever hopeful...
