This is an inaugural event in honour of our good mate ‘croc’. There will be no formal Performance Competition for this first year, but a One Minute Cup will be held, with mysterious prizes to be awarded...and doubtless a Yarn Spinning comp...with even more mysterious prizes. We will be launching croc’s book, ‘The World According To Croc’ at the event. This shindig is essentially a gathering of friends & poet mates, to celebrate croc’s life & to say our farewells, as sadly, he is terminally ill. It is therefore not a highly structured event; moreso a working bee to help establish the venue, with as much camaraderie, music, & fun, as we can make together. Three days are scheduled for the event with the Saturday night being for the announcements, book launch & an open mic, & weather permitting, tucker around a campfire. There is ample (unpowered) free camping with good amenities, down by our lovely Dawson River, 2 minutes from the town centre. There is also cheap powered camping at our showgrounds, only a block from the venue. Everyone is very welcome to attend & I hope you will all support the written competition to help us fund the project. We are hoping it will develop into a popular yearly attraction for our little town, & one that the poets can feel ‘ownership’ of, through helping to establish it.

OK everyone...

Lets rally round Glenny and croc. I could not count the times she has helped me with advice on a poem, so I am delighted to be able to pay a little back. I am aiming for being the first entry in the poetry comp to be opened and that Wayne and I be the first 'little helpers' to arrive on site.

Hi Glenny, Where do flights go up your way from Brisbane? Do they fly to Rockhampton? And how far is Rocky from Theodore?
Good luck with the comp - will get my finger out and try and write something worthy of putting in a comp!!

Crikey Maureen...I didn't know that! (and to think, all this time I've been hitch hiking  ) Bless you girl. (I really didn't know that...?? der me.)

Hey IRene. Wow! Are you seriously thinking of coming over? Oh wow. I'd come & get you love. It's about a 2.5 hr drive, & yes Rocky is the nearest big airport. There possibly may be direct flights to there?? I'm not sure. We have an airport here in Theodore...but you'd need to score a lift with a 2 seater... :o I'll give you a ring soon. Haveta drive into Moura this morning to pick up a door. (app 40mins each way)

Yes pleeese! 'Get ya finger out'...of wherever it's been... :? & send in a written entry. We neeed written entries.......

Huge thanks
xx Glenny

Don't take my word for it Glenny check with Greyhound first in case things have changed with all the flooding etc that's being going on around the ridges, and I have no idea where in Theodore they pick up and put down. Outside the community pub would be a good place I'd reckon.

Hi Glenny
I am still pondering the practicalities of getting over there.
Unfortunately, I am on call on the crisis line in Geraldton until 9am on Friday morning, so by the time I got to Perth, I wouldn't be able to leave until that evening, and get to Rocky at 8.30am saturday morning - which misses being able to help on friday. Was wondering, if I do get there, about flights to Rocky and back - if they fitted in, might still be cheaper than hiring a car, and fuel, but I expect they wouldn't fly out there on a saturday anyway. Certainly wouldn't let you come and get me - you will be busy with your visitors!! Anyway, will see.

Are you kidding IRene? I get 'over stimulated' when there's too many other voices to compete with...& it's a lovely drive to Rocky. To us, it's just like popping down the road for shopping. No no, I'd definitely come & pick you up. I'm confident that flights go to Rocky 7 days a week.

Hey Bobbity...thank you for the tip off mate. I'll keep that well in mind...but I'm a tad broke now that the bulk of the basic work is all but done. BTW that bloody door that we struggled all the way to Moura to pick up was....the wrong flaming size!! Croc was incredibly impressed! (and I had to bounce along beside utterly cheerful him all the way home...he'd had new springs fitted to the ute & it's like riding a mechanical bull!...and I need a step ladder to get into the danged thing.) I don't think he will be doing that again as he is not well enough by a shot to be driving any distance. (So hard on a bloke with every heavy haulage licence known to man.) Anyway...I've scored 'free delivery' of the damned thing out of it all. (end of whinge...)

Hey Mausey....yeah, there's all sorts 'picked up' (& dropped off) at the pub. Did you know the RESIDENTS out here own the pub? 25 cents a share.....value!! (It's a wonder that Bob ever left the place...
