Of course I am Glenny. :) My skin might be brittle these days but that's just an age thing.
However, my head's still spinning. Despite the much appreciated info about where the stress falls (I think David Campbell gave me similar advice but I'm a slow learner) I am still no wiser.
If the line requires ev-er-y but the reader reads it as ev'ry the line's def'nitely stuffed as far as syll'bles are concerned isn't it?

Cheers ... Wazza

''... as far as syll'bles are concerned isn't it?'' Ya pushin' it Waz.

Nah, that's the clever bit. Write it as ev-er-y but still say it as ev'ry (scratch scratch)...go on then....how's it sound? It just might be that time Waz....when you neeed to ''go find another word'',eh?
(Write it correctly and both pronunciation camps can read it to their colloquial preference.)

Mal, me darlin'......goodo. You can come outta the corner now. Just make sure there's a chair in there for bloody Pacey, who thinks he got off scot free....''ev'ry thing'' indeed!

xx Glenny

Poetry Schmoetry!

If ever is e’er and never is ne’er,
alas and alack, I’m filled with despair!
For every, then, unless I’m mistook,
is e’ry, I think…but how does that look?

If over is o’er then rover is ro’er,
while Do’er is somewhere on England’s far shore!
And what, then, of even, if it should be e’en?
I guess that our Stephen would have to be Ste’en!

David ;)
