We do it all the time Martin, perhaps you just don't notice, that's why I read every post put on the site, you just never know what is going to emerge.

You're right of course David
Most of us used to post regardless of competition rules, but it seems they've finally wore us down.

The ABPA doesn't make 'rules', we offer guidelines ...
Consider, how would the 'rules' be enforced?

How could you not have something to say about a leaf, Heather? Is it on a tree, or on the ground? Is it green, brown, red, or yellow - or some combination of all of these? Has it been partly eaten by something? Or are some insects hatching in it? Is it from an introduced or native tree? Has it been burnt, perhaps? Is it lying on a heap of garbage, the only representation of Nature in a scene of artificiality? Every leaf has a story, Heather, every leaf has a story. Trouble is, they never get a chance to do anything but whisper...

Enid Blyton would have loved you Stephen. :)

Somehow you just conjure up the Faraway Tree - one of my childhood favourites. :)

Ah, that brings back memories, Heather. And, you know, sometimes I think this website is a little like the Faraway Tree...you never quite know what weird and wonderful world you'll find when you climb up through that hole in the cloud.

Then, of course, there are the memorable characters. Who might they really be, I wonder? Dame Washalot? The Saucepan Man? Silky? Mister Watzisname? The Angry Pixie? Moonface? Then, of course, there's Dame Slap, who presumably has the job of sending certain people to the naughty corner.

Hmmmmm...

David ;)

I think I need to re-visit that book David. It's been a while. :)

When I was at high school I played a prank on the librarian once. I told her my name was Enid Blyton and funnily enough she couldn't find my library card!

I've just cleared out a lot of my kids books and given them to my children but the ones I have kept are my Noddy books and Dr. Seuss books.

I had a friend at school whose name was Richard Nixon. He used to get into strife when the prefects asked him what his name was...
