On Wazza's Theme I wrote this for a local radio add back in 2004
Some people travel round the world
they sample foods of every fare.
they comment on the texture
and crave the taste of something rare.
They try caviar and frogs legs
they eat things that squish and squirm.
Raw fish that's dipped in sauces
cut their teeth on candied worm.
Now I've tried many foods as well
and though my choice is not so bland;
some of the foods I've tried were tasteless
but some others were quite grand.
But of all the foods I've eaten
There's only one for which I'd die.
Cause I've never tasted better
than a juicy Aussie pie.
I don't know exactly why I like them
But they always get me in.
When you take that first big bite
the juice dribbles down you chin.
The variety is endless
steak or bacon, mince or curry .
You can sit and eat them as a meal
or scoff them in a hurry.
now I've had pies with mushroom in em
and others that were full of fish.
But a pie with peas and chips mate
will always make a lovely dish.
Just hot enough to burn your tongue
but cold enough to eat.
A pie and sauce with peas mate
its a treat that's hard to beat.
The kids use them for pie drives
and they sell them in a trice.
Those big round ones wrapped up in foil
taste really bloody nice.
So you can keep your fancy dishes
all those foods you blanch or stir or fry.
When it comes right to the crunch mate
give me a plain old Aussie pie.

Re: Aussie Pies
Don't think I could eat anything called stodge Neville. Glad we didn't keep the name.
Nice work Bob. Can't beat a pie and mushy peas... unless it's got potato mash as well.
