CALLING ANY RURAL VICTORIAN BUSH POETS ????

Post by manfredvijars » Tue Jun 11, 2013 6:44 pm

This was forwarded on to me from Jan Lewis ...

Hi Jan,
I write feature articles for The Weekly Times newspaper and I was wondering whether you would be able to give me an overview of ABPA’s Victoria division.
Do we have any national bush poet champions in the state from rural Victoria? Is there a regular event that sees all the state’s bush poets gather in one place?
I’m keen to track down an outstanding human interest story from one of your participants (rural Victoria), ideally someone with a very unusual story, or has excelled on a national level. Something different from the norm.
Our readers love bush poetry so I’m hoping you’ll be able to help.
I’m happy to chat further on the phone.
Kind regards and I look forward to chatting
Sarah

Heather - aren't you in Victoria? You should do this - your help to the people who went through the Bushfires would be a great human interest story

Thanks for your vote of confidence Maureen but the bushfire was four and a half years ago. I don't seek the limelight and never did. I've had my five minutes of fame. :)

You don't have to talk about yourself - rather the interesting displays of human courage and Aussie spirit that you came across, how people turned down help for themselves but pointed you across the road to their neighbour, the quilt ladies, the belly dancing ladies , the girls weekends etc etc. You go do it girl. It may have been 4 years ago but it is still relevant, who knows when the next one is going to blow through. It is a story or courage, kindness, human endurance and mateship and all Aussies love those.
