Homework The Journey

Post by Bob Pacey » Mon Oct 14, 2013 5:29 pm

The Journey

The winters chill was slowly fading back to whence it came
the hills and valleys once again were plentiful with game.
The line of warriors and women crept across a windswept land
skeletal boughs of dying trees protruded from the baking sand.

A flock of geese called loudly and they flew across the slope
the returning birds brought promise of a season filled with hope.
The tribe had made this trek each year from primordial times long gone
with the changing of the seasons as the days again grew long.

They gazed upon the river where once their homes had perched
the women wailed in sadness at the charred and blackened birch.
The winter had been tough and hard and tested their desire
now all that was left were burnt remains, their homes consumed by fire.

They would rebuild as they had done so many times before
it was times like these their leaders were needed at the fore.
Then once again as seasons changed they would start their trek again
to escape the winters hardships and await the summers rain.

Can't believe you haven't read it yet. I couldn't put it down - literally - there were a lot of 2am bedtimes till I knocked it over. Now tackling 50 shades of Grey - not at all like I thought it would be  but very interesting.

Dunno about Mills but anyone who can knock off 53 cans on a flight to London deserves a statue (and a poem)

I liked that one Bob, goodonya mate.
