ANOTHER KIND OF COURAGE (Homework w/e 23/12/13)

ANOTHER KIND OF COURAGE

She’d never guessed how this could end; she’d been a little fool;
it started all those years ago when she was still at school.
Addiction was a curse for those who fell beneath its spell;
she rued her youthful weakness; was regretful you could tell.

She knew it would take courage to be rid now of this curse,
there’d be a price to pay; withdrawal symptoms may be worse.
Two days then passed without a fix; somehow she had stayed strong -
ignored the ringing in her head and proved the experts wrong.

Today would be the starting point to once more gain control,
she’d leave behind her foolishness and cleanse her weary soul.
She paused there for a moment just to clear her tortured mind,
then walked out through the door and left her mobile phone behind.

Hi David,

I have felt for a long time that people get so addicted to their mobile phones, that they eventually reach a stage where they can't live without them.

Hi Neville,

It may have started like a fairy tale but seems to me to have morphed into a horror story.

Hi Heather,

That sounds a bit off putting, it's bad enough just sitting in the train or bus and getting bombarded with the mindless chatter.

Cheers

Dropped my grandson off at school last week and firstly he went to put his I pod head gear on as soon as he got in the car ! no way I said we can talk for a while.

Got to the drop off and there along the bench were at least 10 kids all with their mobile phones out tapping away I commented and I thought I had made my point till I looked into the rear view as I drove away and he was putting his ear phones back in !!!!!!!

My mobile is there for emergencies and is very seldom used for anything else although eight years on since my heart event if I'm late home I get a text from my son ( Where You ) :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Well said Terry.

I find it very bemusing when people go out for dinner and all sit around the table texting.

Bob & Heather, we recently had an oldies get-together for a few days and one of the gripes was about the incessant texting by grandchildren when visiting apparently it goes on almost non-stop.
Mind you I noticed some of the oldies were using their mobiles on a regular basis.

We're a bit like you Bob, we have a prepaid one that is rarely turned on. I take it bush with me when I go away and ring home each week or so if I'm in range, amazing how far away they can pick up a signal if you can find a high enough hill.

In the old days we used to have an old fashioned two-way radio that connected with the flying doctor net work where messages could be passed back and forth in an emergency..
