See that's exactly what I meant by over thinking things, it could have been that he just made a boo boo ?
Bit like trying to analyse American Pie

I got analysis paralysis analysing American Pie.....but I cracked it....it's about the crucifixion.

The purpose of my life is to serve as a warning to others.

Yeats, make a boo boo? Me thinks not.
I think it's a beautiful piece of poetry - anyone to argue that it isn't poetry because it rhymes the same words? Dare ya!!!

Debate doesn’t really change things. It gets you bogged in deeper. If you can address or reopen the subject with something new, something from a different angle, then there is some hope.... That’s something poetry can do for you, it can entrance you for a moment above the pool of your own consciousness and your own possibilities.

Sorry Glenny, only Don Mclean knows what all of the lyrics in American Pie mean and he still wont tell!

Re: Thoughts on poetry
Robert Frost was a very perceptive and articulate thinker on things poetical. And a wonderful, dare I say; bush poet.
