For those who want to check, below is the list of 26, with the correct word (in the context of the poem) placed second. The "principal/principle" pair are often confused...the first is the person who runs the local school (your "pal" for memory purposes?), while the second is a basic truth. There's a useful, and very comprehensive, list of homophones at: http://www.singularis.ltd.uk/bifroest/m ... -list.html It's worth having a look through it as there are bound to be some entries that give pause for thought.

I've seen a poem which described lambs "gambling" in a field (two-up maybe?), and have lost count of the number of times "grizzly" has been used in the print media instead of "grisly", with entirely unintended humorous consequences. But even more common is confusion over pedal/peddle. To "pedal a bike" is to ride it, but to "peddle a bike" is to sell it.
