A bit hard to argue against that Stephen.

David, you can listen to poetry on the radio while driving in the car. :) At 3pm on Saturdays the ABC Radio National does a poetry program called " Poetica ". It's fairly heavy on the modernist stuff, but not always, for example a couple of weeks ago they ran a program reading the works of Bobbie Burns.

As for a resurgence of popular interest in poetry. Sadly I don't think we can expect that from a culture that has killed off music and instead assaults their senses with the rabid cacophony of Rock " Music " and also accepts the venal mediocre sludge of advertising slogans as if that was well crafted and enlightening spoken word.

I haven't heard anything about a 2014 edition of the anthology, Terry. I'm assuming there probably won't be one.

As for the age thing, it's hard to know. Shakespeare died at 52. Elizabeth Jolley, the English novelist who spent most of her life in Australia, didn't publish her first book until age 53, and was still publishing in her 70s. Brendan Behan, the famous Irish poet, novelist and playwright, basically drank himself to death at 41. Robert Frost, probably America's most acclaimed poet, died at 88 and wrote his last poem at 87.
