Log Jam
Raspberry jam is tangy.
Strawberry jam is sweet.
Apricot jam's delicious.
Blackberry jam's complete.
Gooseberry jam is goosey.
Blueberry jam is blue.
Peach jam is nutritious.
Fig jam's dandy too.
All of these jams are yummy,
And marmalade's ripper too,
But log jam, log jam, log jam
Is the jam that sees me through.
First you have to cut the logs,
Then boil them for a week,
And even then you sometimes get
A splinter through your cheek,
But it's chewy. It's bulky. It's filling.
It's value for money. It's cheap,
And sometimes you get to chew it again
In the dead of the night, as you sleep.
You can have all your fancy flavours.
Though 'fruits of the forest' they be,
I like my jam from the forest itself.
Log jam's the one for me!
