I agree Terry. You can tell from your poems that you know the place or experience that you are writing about. You never try to write about something you don't know or love. Your poetry comes from the heart....

Thanks Bill
I suppose I'm subconsciously hoping to make a reader feel as though they're out there with me- but I guess we all do that.
Hi Neville,
Yes we managed to get a few ounces.
G/day Matt
'The Dead Finish' is up on the Ashburton which is in the Western Pilbrara. although it was a real harsh place on that trip there were a couple of days when the wind dropped completely in the late afternoon. On one of those days I climbed one of the higher hills to see If I could get a phone signal. the country is just a mass of hills in every direction it's like you're in the middle of what once had been a massive upheaval of the earth. The hills are all a sort of rusty brown until just before sunset and then they take on this wonderful hue which is highlighted by all the creeks and valley's. I remember just sitting there almost mesmerized by the sheer beauty of it.
Hi Heather,
I suppose people may get sick of the stories after awhile that's why I slip in something a bit different occasionally. I find this type of poem so enjoyable to write, a bit like a trip down memory lane I suppose.
Thanks for the comments

Hi Heather,
That whole area is worth a visit and even with what was happening during the visit the poem's about there was that special moment, I still think about it - one of the more memorable sights I've had the good fortune to see.
Cheers Terry
