A couple of years ago we had a young pure bred dingo befriend us out at Cripple Creek which is in a very remote area.
We never fed it but he would drop in now and again or suddenly turn up where we were working.

This is not unusual and usually happens when their mother kicks them out of home; a bit like kids actually, but they can be even harder to shift at times I'm told.

Strange as it may seem I'm a bit of a fan myself but I have also seen the horrific damage that they can do as well.

If you ever get a chance to look into the eyes of a wild one close up, they really do look cruel animals Even that one that befriended us had that look where you always felt you had to be on your guard, not that it ever threatened us in any way.

That country has a large population of dingoes and with the exception of one pure white one I've never seen any that weren't the natural wild dingo colour and lean and mean looking to go with it.

Interesting piece on Landline last Sunday re. killing of wild dogs, it was in central Qld using sporting shooters to help farmers (who just don't have the time to spare) to remove them. All done under strict guidelines. (no cowboys!)
