Workshop w.e 20 Oct 2014.

Post by Neville Briggs » Sun Oct 19, 2014 4:53 pm

Sorry I'm late Maureen, I've been away.

YOUR GUESS IS AS GOOD AS MINE.

A long, long time ago
When things were quiet and slow,
The pop beat burst upon the scene,
You girls would faint and cry and scream
For John, Paul, George and Ringo.

Some others joined right in
This flood of tin-eared din,
With rock at six o'clock each day,
Del Shannon and his runaway;
So you learnt Yankee lingo.

The Beach Boys bad vibrations
rocked ABBA's botherations.
Neil Diamond's sugared Caroline
saw My Sharona's prance divine;
Boom Clap in Magic Layla time.

But I have saved my senses
from those mindless pretences.
I've followed solid lasting hits
Of Bach's, Beethoven's, Hindermith's.
Your clapped out Clapton will decline,
'cause.........your discs ain't as good as mine.

I didn't forget anyone Heather, there's not enough room for all the greats of real music in a brief verse. Haydn didn't fit the metre and rhyme, neither did Rimsky-Korsakov, Buxtehude, Khatchaturian, Rachmaninov, Salieri or Tommasini. :o ;)

Thanks Maureen. I hope the girls enjoyed the birthday party . Did you play your old Beatles records. :lol:

Yes - no - Neville my old Beatles records are still gathering dust. My girls enjoy everyday as long as they share it with their Mum who loves them :)

I sure with your expertise Mausie you could record them onto your computer then burn them onto a cd for safe keeping .

I've already used Mahalia's bark on several of my recordings Bob - sometimes in very inappropriate places :lol:
