Fishing
Fishing.
I’m standing on the crystal beach
and thinking “Ain’t it grand”.
Not another person is in sight
a rod held tightly in my hand.
The tide is surging back and forth
the waves break on the shore.
The seagulls cruise upon the wind
I can but stand and watch in awe.
Time to reflect on life, I call it
peace from the boring daily grind.
Catching fish well that’s a bonus
for this is time to clear your mind.
Some seek peace in meditation
a place that few can ever reach.
But to me I’ll always find it
on a golden windswept beach.

Re: Fishing
Do not worry Wazza I've thought of a chair with extended legs
This is a picture of the Runthrough at the Causeway Lake where I do a lot of fishing the extended chair system would work here.
Might go out to the shed and see what I can whip up ?

Re: Fishing
Used to fish under the bridge but now they allow fishing off the bridge where all the gumbies fish.
That's me in the red pants when the new bridge was being built., Barra Queenfish and trevally with the odd Mangrove Jack thrown in.
I have found a deeper hole just about where the last boat is on the run and do alright there.

Re: Fishing
Nice one Bob - I love the sea, but you actually seem to make the fishing sound appealing in this poem!
My only success in this department was an 11kg mackerel back in 1995 in the Whitsundays - but only because the skipper felt sorry for me during a fishing trip because I was the only one who hadn't caught anything and it was nearly home time. So once he'd snagged it for me, he handed me the rod and told me how to fight it and reel it in. I felt very sorry for the fish at the time, but it was delicious on the barbie!

Re: Fishing
Ah. The solitude of fishing and the opportunity to clear the mind. Liked this a lot.
