Underneath The Three Arch Bridge

Post by Cropduster » Sun Jan 25, 2015 9:35 pm

UNDERNEATH THE THREE ARCH BRIDGE

Sitting, staring out the window
Watching children playing in the street
Water bombs and water pistols
Trying to find a way to beat the heat

Takes me back to days of wonder
Four boys catching crayfish under
Underneath the three arch bridge
Jack and Jimmy, me and Pete
Catching crawchies in the creek
Underneath the three arch bridge

Boyhood friendships never end
We thought the life we knew would never change
We thought we had it all back then
We were rich if we had pocket change

But we’re not children any longer
Long gone is the life I long for
Underneath the three arch bridge
Every afternoon we’d meet there
Catching crawchies in the creek there
Underneath the three arch bridge

We were young but none the poorer
Needing nothing more that wasted time
Time for dreaming, time for fishing
Wishing there were flathead on the line

Takes me back to days of wonder
Four boys catching crayfish under
Underneath the three arch bridge
Jack and Jimmy, me and Pete
Catching crawchies in the creek
Underneath the three arch bridge

Years of summers melt away
Those were the days of summer that I miss
The boys and I don’t keep in touch
We might catch up once a year at best

So I sit here and remember
Four boys catching crayfish under
Underneath the three arch bridge
Jack and Jimmy, me and Pete
Catching crawchies in the creek
Underneath the three arch bridge
