THE TOY MAKER

Post by Cropduster » Tue Jan 27, 2015 5:27 pm

THE TOY MAKER

He proffered a puzzle to boggle the mind
To beguile bewilder and bamboozle mankind
to amuse and bemuse all those would choose
to attempt to make sense of this whimsical ruse

A curious puzzle, a conundrum indeed
With malicious intent should someone succeed
To fathom the matrix, to manoeuvre the maze
Would end in dejection, most certain malaise

The evil intent of this diabolical tool
Was to snare the unwary and inveigle the fool
Any poor soul who elucidated this ploy
Would themselves then become a Beelzebub toy

A plaything for Satan, a squeeze for Hades
The designer- The Devil, Mephistopheles

Ha Neville

Not even the devil could come up with something as fiendish as the Rubik's cube

Talking about fiendish, Mephistopheles is very tricky to work into the metre and rhyming.
The standard pronunciation seems to be something like mef-uh-stof-uh-leez. accent on the third syllable. Sorry to be picky, the devil made me do it :)
