THE HOME INVASION

THE HOME INVASION

It was early in the morning I was not long out of bed
The dishes washed, the fangs were brushed, the paper had been read
I'd sat down at the upright and I tinkled with the keys
Cranking out a melody as easy as you please

Got working on a new song that I had stuck in my mind
Searching for that minor chord that can be hard to find
I span around to grab a pen to scribble down a note
To find a home intruder there in hood and long black coat

I'm not sure which one was more shocked, the hooded one or me
Perhaps he though the tune he heard was playing on TV
Which really would be flattering, my first adoring fan
But no, he burst my bubble when he quickly turned and ran

Ever since I double check to make sure doors are locked
I'm not a fearful person but it clearly left me shocked
I think it rude to just intrude, but that is not the half
He could at least have asked me for my flamin' autograph
