WHEN LOVE IS GONE

Post by Cropduster » Thu Feb 05, 2015 3:32 am

WHEN LOVE IS GONE

She can't give in though she can't win
There is no compromise
She can't believe in honesty
There's been too many lies
Long gone her faith in fairy tales
They simply don’t come true
When the stranger that you're sleeping with
Is not the man you knew

The plans they made all seem to fade
or get left on the shelf
The good times spent together
now seem better by herself
A breakfast of cold shoulder
and an unforgiving stare
Love would be much better
if her lover wasn’t there

They cut the cake together
Now the icing never melts
The touch of glasses always seems
to toast somebody else
Better or for worse has far more worse
than it has good
The pain of loving hurts more than
she thought it ever could

She once wept tears of happiness
but now she just cry tears
The days of wine and roses
seemed to vanish with the years
A kiss that once was passion
is now a kiss upon the cheek
As he pulls the blankets over
and curls up and goes to sleep

Ooh, got a verbal exclamation out of me with this one Allan - anyone who has been through such pain can surely relate to this!

Thanks Catherine. It is always reassuring to know that your words can evoke a response.

I hope if you have experienced a love gone sour, you are in a good place right now.

Cheers

Allan

My wife and I celebrated 50 years married December 2014. Our love for one another is still strong but expressed in different ways now. We hold hands when out together, still talk to each other, laugh at the same silly situations and generally just enjoy each other's company. Allan, if I turned on the passion one night I'd probably be a widower by morning. She'd die laughing. Oh and I'd probably die trying to keep it up.
