Homework 15/2/2016 At the end of the day

Post by Bob Pacey » Tue Feb 16, 2016 2:23 pm

At the end of the day

Go to it my talented friends called aloud
as I boarded the bus out of town.
I struck out for the bright city lights where I'd live
without slightest worry or frown.

One last thing they shouted as I waved them farewell
remember them as my wealth grew..
But they never knew I had a hole in my pocket
and the notes in my wallet were few.

It was always expected that I would do well
I had really excelled at our school.
Always first one in line to accept an award
the others would sit there and drool.

The best at all sports, a handsome young lad
the ladies would say at the fair.
The girls brought me red flowers on valentines day
to miss out was seldom and rare.

But the cities a hard place when you start on your own
and I quickly fell down on my luck.
I took then to stealing and dealing in drugs
always had a keen eye for a buck.

Drugs and wild women destroyed what I had
brought down by the road that I tread.
I sit now in prison at the end of my life
my pride and my prestige is dead.

At the end of the day the choices I made
were not those now that I would remake
And if I had a chance to live my life over
I'd learn how to give more not take.

You're on a roll mon cher Robere - I really like this one, nicely done and a great use of the prompts as well as a nice moral to the story. Good job.

You're really pushing them out lately Bob - this is another good one, which ends with a great message.

Good message indeed Bob. Unfortunately all too true for too many.

Cheers, Shelley
