Homework 25.4.

Post by Neville Briggs » Thu Apr 14, 2016 11:09 pm

THE KING OF SWING

I didn't have a TV or iPad,
the DIY and park were all I had.

A hardwood plank, suspended on two chains
was seating for a super swooping plane.

Push off the ground, and soar into the sky
as feet rise up to tread the clouds and fly.

My plane flew faster, higher than the rest;
in winged imaginations I was best,

and bolder still, while standing on the seat
all earth would sway and dip beneath my feet.

In just the briefest warp of time and space
apotheosis seemed to charge the place.

Ah yes - who hasn't flown to the stars on a childhood swing!!

Enjoyed this one, Nev.

Cheers, Shelley

Swing low sweet chariot - our swings opened our imaginations for many things when we were kids - you took a different tangent, top marks for thinking outside the square Neville - well done.

Thanks Heather.

There are no big words for poets Bob, only the best words in the best order. ;)

G/day Neville

Nothing like slipping back to those carefree childhood days,
when with a little imagination a swing can launch you into, space or anywhere else for that matter.

You really thought outside the box for this one Neville and I love it. I still can't resist the joys of a swing even today, and was on one just two weeks ago on the beach in Phuket!
