Renovations

Post by Zondrae » Sun Mar 27, 2011 2:37 pm

Irene posted her poem in praise of her dearly beloved so I thought I'd do likewise.

Renovations.
© Zondrae King (Corrimal) 09/06

Well he’s fast approaching 60.
Must admit he’s past his prime.
I suggested that a makeover
would suit that man of mine.

So I sent him to the dentist,
got his teeth fixed, that’s a start.
Almost cost us our whole fortune, but
he’s worth it, cross my heart. (alternate: the old fart)

Then I thought he needed exercise
a treadmill – that’s the go.
We set the slope on gentle and
the pace on steady – slow.

His face turned red, his temples bulged
his pulse went off the scale.
His wheezing and his grunting soun-
ded like a beaching whale.

What about a brand new hairstyle.
Think he’d suit some nice blond streaks.
Well the cricketers can do it,
just some tips on ends and peaks.

Well he lost some weight and got real fit,
he bought himself new clothes.
A manicure and facial,
(Hey, I wanted one of those.)

Then I looked into the mirror.
I’m amazed at what I see.
Who’s that wrinkled, fat old woman
standing looking back at me.

Well he’s slim and chic and handsome
and his renovation’s done.
Someone else needs making over
and I guess now I’m the one.

Keep up Neville. The dentist is in stanza 2, I could take that up Zondrae but I think for me it’s to late

G'day Zondrae, saving up for the dentist alright, I've always said the dentist doesn't hurt, just the receptionist/cashier!....(I'm off to see mine tomorrow)......Like Neville, I look forward to the sequel.

G'day all,

Yes, the reply was intended to mean, I begin my make over with the dentist, just as he did. Now If only there was a magic pill to take the wrinkles out I'd be in heaven. There is a treatment ( costing an arm and leg) where they actually iron your face. It only lasts for a few months. My fat rolls bother me and my turkey neck, but my face wrinkles and grey hair don't seem to be a bother. Isn't it funny how we all have our own fixations.

Back to the grindstone for me, necessary housework is calling me. I have just begun an 'Impossipuzzle'. It is a jigsaw that is a picture of brussels sprouts. It is also reversable - the other side is Baked Beans. There are no other features to assist with the jigsaw. I'll let you know if I ever get it done. (tut tut - good writing time wasted)
